Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev declared on Wednesday that any official representing the United Kingdom could be viewed as a valid military target due to the de facto state of war between London and Moscow.
In response to UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly's remarks that Ukraine has the legitimate right to "project force beyond its borders to ... undermine Russia’s ability to project force into Ukraine itself," Medvedev noted that it could be deduced that the UK is waging war against Moscow by providing military support to Kiev. "That being the case, any of its public officials (either military, or civil, who facilitate the war) can be considered as a legitimate military target," the former president concluded.
Medvedev's comments come a day after multiple drones attacked Moscow, causing damage to residential buildings. Russia blamed Ukraine for the attack, which Kiev denied.
