Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the government to consider regulating fuel oil prices during the upcoming heating season, the Kremlin stated in a document published on Thursday.

According to it, Putin instructed the national government to provide resources from the federal budget for co-financing fuel oil for heating purposes in the Murmansk region and other Arctic regions and for compensation for costs caused by fuel oil price hikes.

Previously, Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel Energy complex Alexander Novak assured that the Russian authorities will monitor fuel prices on the domestic market and take appropriate measures if necessary. He also said that Moscow will make a decision in November on whether it will continue with oil production reduction or start to increase the output.
