United States President Joe Biden accused on Friday his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of seeking to use Moscow's military operation in Ukraine to "obliterate" that country and "subjugate its people."
Biden's statement, published by the White House, came after what the US and the Western media described as Russia's "largest aerial assault on Ukraine since this war began," which started the previous night. He insisted that Putin "must be stopped" and once again urged Congress to pass necessary bills to continue to support Ukraine's defense.
To underline his point, Biden noted that "[i]n the face of this brutal attack, Ukraine deployed the air defense systems that the United States and our Allies and partners have delivered to Ukraine over the past year to successfully intercept and destroy many of the missiles and drones."
