Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov (pictured) said during a press briefing on Thursday that the act of Ukraine shooting down the Russian Ilyushin IL-76 military aircraft, which was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners for a potential exchange, was a "monstrous act."
"The fact that the Ukrainians killed their prisoners, citizens who should have been at home literally in a day, is, of course, a completely monstrous act. Simply monstrous," Pekov told reporters.
The spokesperson further highlighted that the impact of this incident on the ongoing prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine remains uncertain and that it also raises significant questions about the possibility of reaching any form of agreement with Kiev.
