Ukraine will reportedly receive a newly tested long-range precision bomb made by the United States as soon as Wednesday, Politico reported on Tuesday, citing a US official and other people familiar with the matter.

According to these sources, so-called Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bombs, developed by Boeing and Saab, are an entirely new weapon that the US does not even have in service. It was explained that the weapon consists of a high-precision 250-pound bomb attached to a rocket motor and could be launched from various ground-based launchers.

The unnamed US official emphasized that the bomb can "travel about 90 miles," adding that "it gives them [Ukraine] a deeper strike capability they haven't had, it complements their long-range fire arsenal."
