Meta Inc. is exploring the possibility of developing artificial intelligence-powered earphones with cameras, The Information reported on Monday, citing three current company employees.

Meta's new push is set to create a device capable of identifying objects and translating foreign languages. The move comes as several companies are looking to develop similar devices to lead the AI race.

The report says that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has seen several possible models, but he is still not satisfied with any of them. Internally, the project is dubbed "Camerabuds."
