North, South Korea to set up direct line between leaders

Pyongyang and Seoul may establish a direct line of communication later this week between their leaders, Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in before the upcoming inter-Korean summit scheduled for later this month, South Korea's presidential office spokesman stated on Tuesday.

"We already have two telecom talks, and we know that the hotline will be set up by April 20. I think it will be possible to make a trial call at that time, but it is hard to say when the phone call between the two leaders will take place,” the spokesman said, according to Yonhap.

Earlier, it was reported that the South Korean representatives may visit Pyongyang once again before the summit, where they will discuss the possibility of a live coverage of the upcoming meeting. Also, local media reported the two leaders may initiate talks to officially end the Korean war that has technically been going on since 1950.
