NY police clear CNN studios after bomb threat

There were no explosive devices at the headquarters of CNN in New York City, authorities said on Friday. The building was evacuated following a bomb scare and the police gave the all clear after one and a half hour.

Programming was switched to recorded material as the staff was rushed out, while later the unit of Turner Broadcasting System Inc. broadcasted from Skype. The station gave little more detail after Columbus Circle was sealed off. CNN, controlled by AT&T Inc., was evacuated in October as it was one of the targets of mailed pipe bombs, for which Cesar Sayoc from Florida was indicted.
