Plane with up to 10 people crashes in Iran – report

A Boeing 707 cargo aircraft crashed during landing at an airport in Karaj near Tehran on Monday, local news outlets reported. According to unofficial information from the scene, as many as ten people were in the plane.

Footage said to be from the crash site off the runway show firefighters in action next to the debris. The plane was apparently from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and was supposed to go to Payam International Airport, but the pilot mistakenly attempted to land it at Fat'h Airport, where it hit a side wall and ended near a residential area in Safadasht. Such mix-ups have happened before.

Bad weather is speculated to have led to the accident.
