Tesla Summon+ feature to launch 'in a few weeks'

Tesla Inc. CEO and founder Elon Musk said on Thursday that an update to the auto-parking feature Summon will probably be released "to early access program owners in a few weeks." The upgrade is dubbed Summon+ and the electric carmaker mastermind says it will let cars follow drivers around like a pet.

"Going through final validation & regulatory approval," Musk tweeted, describing the feature as "trippy." He added, however, that the company might not be able to introduce Summon+ in all markets it has presence in as it is "getting some regulatory pushback."

The auto executive announced the upgrade back in November, claiming that it will allow customers to drive cars remotely using their phones, while the cars will be able to drive on their own to the driver's location once summoned.
