US business inventories up 0.6% in February

Inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States were estimated at $1,928.8 billion in February, according to a report by the US Census Bureau on Monday. The figure represents a 0.6% increase compared to the previous month and a 4% rise from February 2017.

The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments in the same month was estimated at $1,430.4 billion, marking a 0.4% increase from January, but a 5.8% jump year on year based on seasonally adjusted data.

The total business inventories/sales ratio at the end of February was 1.35.
