US initial jobless claims fall by 4,000 to 218,000

Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending June 9 decreased by 4,000 to 218,000 compared to the previous week's unrevised level, the US Department of Labor reported on Thursday. The four-week moving average stood at 224,250, marking a decline of 1,250 compared to the previous week's unrevised average.

The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending June 2 was 1.2%, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised level. Insured unemployment during the same week fell by 49,000 to 1,697,000 from the previous week's revised level. The four-week moving average was 1,726,250, which is 3,750 lower than the previous week's revised level.
