US retail sales increase 0.6% in March

Seasonally adjusted advance estimates of retail and food services sales for March in the United States increased 0.6% to $494.6 billion compared to the previous month, the US Census Bureau said in a report released on Monday. On an annual basis, retail and food services were up 4.5%.

Meanwhile, total sales for the first quarter of 2018 rose 4.1% from the same period a year ago.

At the same time, retail trade sales rose 0.6% in March compared to the month before and jumped 4.7% year-on-year. Nonstore retailers climbed 9.7% year over year, while gasoline stations added 9.7% compared to the same period last year.
