US shares close at record highs on strong earnings

Stock markets in the United States finished the Friday trading session at record highs as investors' optimism was boosted by a day of strong earnings. Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock were among the companies to reveal their quarterly results. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump decided to extend Iran sanctions relief, but warned that he will pull the country out of the Iranian nuclear deal unless other signatories "fix the terrible flaws" of the agreement.

The Dow Jones gained 0.89% at the closing bell to finish at an all-time high, fueled by Boeing's shares. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.75% to also notch a record-high at the close, with Seagate Technology as the best performer. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 was 0.69% higher to finish in the green, also recording an all-time high, with Viacom leading the gains.

The euro gained 1.30% against the dollar to sell for 1.2187 at 10:03 pm CET, reaching levels unseen since the end of 2014.
