Wall Street closes mostly lower after Fed holds rates

Markets in the United States finished the session on Thursday mostly lower after the Federal Reserve announced its decision to hold interest rates. Policymakers unanimously opted to hold the federal funds rate in a range of 2% to 2.25%, while adding that it "expects that further gradual increases in the target range for the federal funds rate will be consistent with sustained expansion of economic activity."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed flat. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 lost 0.25% as Perrigo and Wynn Resorts dragged the index lower, dropping 16.32% and 13.13% respectively. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.62% with Chinese travel agency company Ctrip.com tanking over 19% as the worst performer. The euro was flat against the dollar at 10:07 pm CET, buying 1.13616.
