WH 'still hopeful' about Trump-Kim summit

The White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told Fox News on Wednesday that she is "still hopeful" the planned meeting between United States President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will take place despite reports that Pyongyang might cancel the summit over the issue of joint military drills between South Korea and the US. However, if the meeting scheduled for June 12 in Singapore doesn't happen, the administration will continue with the campaign of maximum pressure that has been ongoing, Sanders added.

The press secretary went on to say that "the president is the toughest negotiator around" and added that "he is prepared to go through this process." "The president is fully prepared and fully ready to carry on in these conversations both leading up to and if the meeting takes place. He'll be ready and he'll be there," Sanders added.
