Ukrainian army chief reportedly resigns

Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a member of the National Defense and Security Council, Valerii Fedorovych Zaluzhnyi, has resigned from his post, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksiy Goncharenko reported on Monday without naming sources.

According to Goncharenko, the resignation has not yet been announced by decree. Even so, he has already been offered the post of ambassador in one of the European countries and turned it down.

Minutes after the news broke, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry posted a statement on Telegram denying the report.
