Alice Weidel, co-leader of Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), stated on Monday that the election-winning coalition leader Friedrich Merz "won't be able" to fulfill any of his campaign promises.
"He will compromise with the left to loosen the debt brake, and that's the opposite of what the country needs... The state should function like a company, and when a company is over-indebted, you know what happens," Weidel told the press.
The remarks come after Sunday's election, which saw the CDU/CSU emerge victorious and the AfD secure second place with 20% of the vote.
