Energy supplier E.ON CEO Leonhard Birnbaum (pictured) stressed Wednesday the need to find more solutions to the current situation in the gas and energy markets.

"Current statistics show that the industry has saved around 20% of gas in recent months. Partly through greater energy efficiency, but also by reducing production," Birnbaum said in a statement. "That is not enough. We cannot rely on another warm winter to help us."

In other words, in the CEO's opinion, the current energy situation in Europe poses a long-term threat to employment and wealth.
