Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the 2022 US Open following a match with Casper Ruud from Norway, winning his first Grand Slam ever and becoming the world's youngest number 1 in the men's singles category.
In a game that lasted more than three hours, Alcaraz took the first set 6-4 in 49 minutes at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, after which the 23-year-old Ruud took the second one 6-2. Both players showed great resistance in the third set which lasted more than an hour, however, Alcaraz won the tiebreak and the set 7-6. The 19-year-old Spaniard continued with his great performance in the last set, winning 6-3 and ending the match in his favor.
A day before, Poland's Iga Swiatek won the women's title at the same tournament.
