American Airlines announced that it has resumed its operations on Friday after a massive IT outage caused by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike's update to its system led several United States carriers to ground their flights nationwide.
"We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience," the company said in the statement. Airports around the world were also forced to suspend operations due to the technical issues that also paralyzed global banks, the London Stock Exchange, and the 911 emergency service in the United States.
Global cybersecurity leader CrowdStrike's President and CEO previously clarified that the large-scale outage was "not a security incident or cyberattack."
