The National Railroad Passenger Corp. (Amtrak) announced on Wednesday it has canceled all long-distance train routes from Thursday ahead of a potential worker strike.
"While we are hopeful that parties will reach a resolution, Amtrak has now begun phased adjustments to our service in preparation for a possible freight rail service interruption later this week," Amtrak noted.
The dispute over labor conditions and wage increases is currently ongoing between railroad companies BNSF, Union Pacific and CSX, as well as other unions representing about 115,000 workers across the US.
