A man carrying an AK-47 pistol and a ski mask was allegedly arrested on Monday, a few blocks away from where the Republican National Convention (RNC) is being held in Milwaukee, Fox News reported, citing a federal law enforcement source.
The man was spotted near the heavily surveilled RNC perimeter by Homeland Security Investigators and Capitol Police. The tactical bag carried by the 21-year-old alerted the officers, who discovered the weapon along with a full magazine inside.
He was promptly arrested, Milwaukee Police told the news agency, adding that he had no concealed weapon license in Wisconsin or any other state. The incident came after the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump on Saturday.
