South Korean investigators seeking to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol were blocked by a military unit, Yonhap reported on Friday.
Investigators from the Corruption Intelligence Office (CIO) managed to enter the presidential residence compound "but have been blocked by troops inside" before they could enforce an arrest warrant for Yoon over his martial law attempt. "The execution of a warrant that is illegal and invalid is not lawful," said Yun Gap-geun, one of Yoon's legal representatives, vowing to take legal action against the move.
"As procedures for objections to the warrant are under way at the Constitutional Court and the court, (we) will take legal action over the unlawful situation of the illegal warrant execution," Yun told the news agency.
