The China Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Mao Ning (pictured) remarked on Friday that Beijing's position regarding the conflict in Ukraine remains "consistent" and "clear" in seeking a peaceful solution to the crisis.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Mao said that China will continue to "closely" observe the events and communicate with all the parties involved. She stressed that the country will do whatever is necessary to protect China's citizens in Ukraine.

China recently urged a de-escalation of the conflict and called on both sides not to attack civilians during their fights.
