Markets in Asia-Pacific traded mixed in Wednesday's afternoon session as investors gauged the latest economic indicators from Japan. The country's gross domestic product (GDP) surpassed expectations, with economy minister Shigeyuki Goto branding the results as a sign of recovery. Meanwhile, Japan's industrial production index in March dropped 0.6% annually.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng plunged 0.93% at 7:25 am CET. At the same time, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.48% and the Shenzhen Composite fell 0.44% at 7:12 am CET. South Korea's Kospi added 0.54% concurrently.
Meanwhile, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.38% and Japan's Nikkei 225 jumped 0.91% at 7:26 am CET.
The dollar gained 0.27% against the yen to go for 136.7470 at 7:28 am CET.
