Markets in Asia-Pacific traded lower on Wednesday, with many exchanges closed for the holidays.
With the New Year nearing, investors are still keeping an eye out for signs of a so-called Santa Claus rally, a late-year market surge often seen around the holiday period.
Japan's Nikkei 225 fell by 0.12% at 3:30 am CET, as the dollar traded 0.06% lower against the yen, going for ¥157.0830 at the same time. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite traded flat at 3:31 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite down by 0.34% a minute later.
Markets in Australia, South Korea and Hong Kong are closed.
