The FTSE and CAC 40 ticked higher as the closing bell announced the end of the shortened trading session on Tuesday, while Euro Stoxx 50 and the German DAX remained closed for the day. European stock markets will not trade on Wednesday and Thursday as the countries across the Old Continent celebrate Christmas.
At 1:35 pm CET, the British FTSE 100 rose 0.42% as Airtel Africa PLC jumped 3.87%. The French CAC 40 traded 0.21% higher at 2:00 pm CET with Eurofins Scientific SE gaining 1.85%.
The Euro traded 0.11% lower against the dollar at 2:06 pm CET, while the pound gained 0.14% against the American currency at the same time.
