At least six dead in stampede at Indian temple

At least six people died in a stampede that broke out at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, local authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The incident reportedly started after a rumor emerged of an electrocution in the temple, causing panic among the worshippers. At least 35 people were taken to the hospital for care.

Pramendra Singh Dobal, a senior police official, who confirmed the figures, said the investigation was ongoing. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami added that the rescue and relief teams are on site.
