The Australian unemployment rate went slightly beyond expectations in May, reaching 3.9%, the country's Bureau of Statistics reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the labor participation rate climbed by 66.7%, while total employment reached 13.5 million. The employment to population ratio also increased by 64.1%, as the underemployment rate fell 5.7%.
The regions with the biggest employment rise were Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania, while a decline was recorded in the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria territories.
