Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles (pictured) said on Thursday that an audit found 913 security cameras linked to the Chinese government in over 250 Australian government offices. The cameras were made by Chinese companies Hikvision and Dahua, whose products have already been banned from the United Kingdom and the United States as they were suspected of containing spyware.
Australia has not yet decided whether to issue a similar ban, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese saying the government will "act in accordance with Australia's national interest." Marles added that "where those particular cameras are found, they’re going to be removed."
