Ons Jabeur (pictured), the 2023 Australian Open number two seed, lost her second-round match against Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic on Thursday.

Vondrousova, currently ranked 86th on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings list, won the match 2-1 (6-1, 5-7, 6-1).

In men's competition, defending champion Rafael Nadal also lost in the second round after suffering an injury that will keep him off the court for six to eight weeks.
