The number of oil rigs in the United States rose by one week-over-week to land at 502 in the week ending October 13, the Baker Hughes rig count data released on Friday. On an annual basis, oil rigs fell by 110.
Meanwhile, the US gas rig count went up by one to 118 compared to the week before. The total number of rigs in the country currently stands at 624, up by two from last week and plunging by 147 from the previous year.
In Canada, the total rig count stood at 198, up by five on a weekly basis and dropping by 12 compared to a year ago. The number of oil rose by five and stood at 121, while the number of gas rigs increased one to 77. Annually, Canada lost 23 oil rigs in the week of reference, while the number of gas rigs was up by 11.
