Beijing wishes to work with the United States in an effort to advance the trade relationship between the world's two largest economies, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said at the opening of the country's National People's Congress' annual meeting.

Li noted the challenges of working towards the goal of improving economic ties amid the coronavirus pandemic, admitting that the global crisis had impacted the foundation for economic recovery in China.

In describing the country's weak points, Li singled out problems with Beijing's effort to contain the pandemic, the pressure on unemployment and a difficult operating environment for enterprises.
