The Biden administration is planning to announce new tariffs against China's cleantech industry later today, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday citing sources briefed on the matter.

According to the sources, the United States Trade Representative’s office will impose a 50% tariff on Beijing's solar wafers and polysilicon, while tungsten products will be hit with a 25% tax. The measures will go into effect on January 1, 2025.

The move aims to shield the US solar energy sector from China's dominance.
