United States President Joe Biden at his planned meeting with the top four congressional leaders intends to stress the need for Congress to act quickly and "avoid default without conditions," CNN reported, citing a White House official.
According to the media outlet, the president also plans to discuss a separate process to address the budget and fiscal year 2024 appropriations.
Biden's invitation comes after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned Congress that the US could run out of cash as soon as June without a debt limit increase, adding pressure on Congress to act swiftly to prevent a fiscal crisis.
