United States President Joe Biden stated his belief that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which will inject $4 billion into the project to replace the 150-year-old Baltimore and Potomac Tunnel is another sign that the country's economy is gaining.
Calling the law "the most significant investment in American roads, bridges since the Interstate Highway System," Biden said that the plans will be built upon the project labor agreement, a pre-hire collective bargaining agreement with one or more labor unions. "To have the best economy in the world, you need to have the best infrastructure," the president noted, admitting that there is a risk of the US "losing its edge" in research and development to China.
However, Biden stressed that the recent investments in infrastructure and electric vehicle and semiconductor manufacturing send a message of pride, saying "that's never been a good bet ... never been a good bet to bet against America."
