United States President Joe Biden on Thursday described the recently reached Railway Labor Agreement as "a big win for America."
"The agreement avoids disruptions of the economy," said Biden, while praising that unions and management can work together. "They're literally the backbone of the economy," he added.
Early on Thursday morning, after 20 hours of discussions, the White House announced that the imminent rail strike had been avoided and that a tentative agreement had been reached between freight rail operators and their unions.
