Explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital on Sunday as a delegation from Africa arrived in Ukraine on a peace mission, according to Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Klitschko reported that the explosions were a result of air defense activities near the capital, specifically in the Podil district, adding that there were no reports of any damage to buildings or other structures in the capital city.

The African leaders visited Ukraine after first arriving in Moscow for talks with President Vladimir Putin in order to facilitate peace talks between the two neighboring nations. The group includes the presidents of South Africa, Senegal, Zambia and Comoros, accompanied by special representatives from Uganda, Egypt, and Congo.
