CME Group reportedly plans spot bitcoin trading

CME Group Inc. is said to be planning to offer its clients spot Bitcoin on the exchange, the Financial Times wrote citing sources on Thursday.

The largest US-based futures exchange has not confirmed the rumor yet, but it is reportedly in discussions with traders interested in buying and selling cryptocurrency on a regulated marketplace, insiders pointed out.

In 2017, the Group announced the launch of its bitcoin futures contract on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange after receiving approval from the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
