Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Thursday Ottawa and its allies will request Russia's suspension from Interpol as a result of its actions in Ukraine.

"We believe international law enforcement cooperation depends on a collective commitment to the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and mutual respect between Interpol members," Trudeau stated.

Following the launch of its military operation in Ukraine, Russia has faced numerous sanctions, including its removal from the Council of Europe and the exclusion of seven banks from the SWIFT international payment system.
