Canada's gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 0.4% in January compared to the previous month, Statistics Canada said in a report on Friday. The growth, which came in higher than expected, was mostly attributed to goods-producing industries, which added 1.1% month-on-month, representing the largest increase since October 2021.
Services-producing industries grew by 0.1% in January, while the manufacturing sector recorded a 0.8% rise. Utilities expanded 2.7%, construction added 0.7%. Retail trade shrank by 0.9%, while wholesale increased by 0.7%.
