China's car sales fall 3.1% in July to 1.73 million units

China's sales of passenger cars came in at 1.73 million units in July, declining 3.1% year over year, the China Passenger Car Association revealed in a report on Thursday.

In the reported period, the sales of new energy vehicles stood at 879,000 units, jumping 36.9% compared to the same timeframe in 2023 and up 2.8% month on month.

When it comes to exports from the country, BYD Co. Ltd. was at the top of the list with 30,014 units exported in July, while Tesla Inc. occupied the second position, with its exports at 27,890 units.
