The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Sunday that Beijing is "deeply concerned" by the recent escalation of violence between the Israelis and Palestinians. "We call on relevant parties to remain calm, exercise restraint and immediately end the hostilities to protect civilians and avoid further deterioration of the situation," a spokesperson said.
The ministry argued that the solution to the conflict lies in "implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent State of Palestine." It called on the international community to "facilitate the early resumption of peace talks between Palestine and Israel, and find a way to bring about enduring peace" and vowed to work "relentlessly" toward this goal.
