China expanded the trade embargo against North Korea in line with the United Nations nuclear sanctions, including the cut of its oil supplies to the regime and the prohibition of steel trade and other goods, AP reported on Friday. Meanwhile, the imports of North Korean products, such as goods and machinery, were also prohibited. The Chinese Commerce Ministry will be in charge of the implementation of those bans.
The decision comes as a response to the most recent ballistic missile test that North Korea conducted at the end of November 2017. China is known as the regime's biggest supplier of goods and most prominent trading partner.
In late December 2017, United States President Donald Trump accused Beijing of continuing oil trade with Pyongyang, calling the alleged move "very disappointing." Chinese authorities denied such reports.
