China's Premier Li Keqiang said on Monday that Beijing and the European Union want a comprehensive bilateral investment treaty to expand trade cooperation.
Speaking at the virtual EU-China Summit, Li stressed he'd like to see such a deal reached by the end of the year, adding the two sides want to come to a consensus on fair competition rules.
Li expressed hopes the EU will decrease export controls against China and that the bloc would improve its macroeconomic policy coordination. Furthermore, he pointed out that China is prepared to work more thoroughly with the EU on COVID-19 vaccine development.
