China says Washington should 'move towards' Beijing

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said it is essential for the United States to take practical steps toward Beijing if it wishes to encourage the development of relations between the two sides, TASS reported on Saturday.

The minister said China remains committed to developing stable relations with the US based on "mutual respect and cooperation," arguing that the ties between the two countries represent "the world's most important bilateral relationship."

"China's attitude towards the development of healthy, stable and constructive Sino-US relations has not changed," the official concluded.
