Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Tuesday that China sees resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means as the only correct approach. Lin spoke in response to the earlier announcement about trilateral expert-level consultations on the Iranian nuclear issue by Russia, China and Iran that will be held in Moscow on April 7-8.

The spokesperson urged all concerned parties to take joint efforts to prevent further escalation and added that China will continue its communication and coordination with all relevant parties and work towards a balanced resolution, in order to uphold the international non-proliferation regime and maintain peace and stability in the Middle East.

Lin also commented on the US, noting it contributed to the stagnation by withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and stating that the country should demonstrate "political sincerity" and engage in dialogue, and stop "resorting to threats of force and maximum pressure."
