China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson called on the United States to cease weapons deliveries to Taiwan and stop its "dangerous moves" in the Taiwan Strait, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
Weapons shipments to Taiwan constitute a direct violation of the one-China policy and three China-U.S. Joint Communiques and also violate China's sovereignty the spokesperson stated. It was noted further that by arming Taiwan, Washington sent a "gravely wrong message" to pro-independence forces on the island.
At the same time, Beijing vowed it would not hesitate to protect its sovereignty and security.
