Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday that China is "seriously concerned" about reports that the Trump administration released $870 million in military assistance to Taiwan. He urged the United States to stop arming Taiwan and "cease actions that undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits."

Lin argued that military support for Taiwan "seriously infringes" upon China's sovereignty and security interests and sends a "wrong signal" to the Taiwanese independence movement. He added that Beijing will closely watch the situation and safeguard China's national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
